Moe Olympics was founded by Chanel Mack, a proud multi-generational Washington, DC native, and launched in the summer of 2023. Created as a joyful homecoming of sorts, the event brings together friends, family, and neighbors from across the city and beyond — a big reunion with a unique DC twist.
Each team name pays homage to the city’s most legendary Go-Go bands, celebrating a subgenre of funk music born and raised in the capital. Known for its infectious rhythm and call-and-response interaction, Go-Go sets the tone for the day: bold, rooted, and electric.
One of Moe Olympics’ most beloved traditions is its epic water battle to close out the event. Designed as both a playful release and a symbolic act, the water battle represents a renewal of energy, community cleansing, and a splash of good luck for all who participate. It’s a lighthearted reminder to prioritize joy and mental wellness.
Moe Olympics provides water guns and gear for anyone who wants to join in. The free-for-all finale is open to all ages and all attendees, ensuring everyone leaves refreshed, connected, and drenched in good vibes.
